The function-by-function playbook, straight from the makers in our Mumbai workshop.
Five ceremonies. Five moods. Five very different jewellery briefs.
The mistake we see most often is one set asked to do every job. The haldi wants something playful, the pheras want the full regal frame, and the reception wants light-catching drama at a distance. Here is how we brief our own brides, function by function — and the sets that answer each one.
Haldi — light, bright, and turmeric-proof
The brief: morning light, yellow everything, and a ceremony that gets messy by design. You want colour that sings against yellow — mint, blush pink, turquoise — and a set you will not cry over if haldi finds it.
- Keep it to a choker and earrings; skip the haar (it will catch the turmeric)
- Fresh, light colours photograph best in daylight
- Wipe the set dry after; kundan handles a splash, not a soak
Our pick: Mehendi-Ready Blush Pink Kundan Polki Choker Set (₹4,400) — blush against yellow is the haldi photograph. Shop the edit: Mehendi & Haldi Jewellery

Mehendi — playful colour, hands free
The brief: your hands are occupied for hours. Earrings and a maang tikka carry the look while the mehendi dries; a light choker stays out of the artist’s way.
- Mint and green tones rhyme with henna
- Jhumkas over studs — they move when you dance
- Nothing too wide on the neck; you will be leaning back
Our pick: Poised Sea-Green Kundan Polki Choker Set (₹4,900).

Sangeet — built for movement
The brief: you will dance. The set must be secure, balanced, and dramatic at arm’s length — this is the night for statement scale.
- Check every dori and hook twice before the first song
- Bigger silhouettes read better on the dance floor
- Ruby-mint and rani pink own the sangeet stage
Our pick: Sangeet Statement Ruby-Mint Kundan Polki Choker Set with Maang Tikka (₹5,000) — named for the night itself. Shop the edit: Sangeet & Reception Jewellery

The Wedding — the full regal frame
The brief: this is the photograph your grandchildren will see. Layer it: choker plus long haar, maang tikka, earrings — the complete frame, nothing held back.
- Ruby and red tones against the bridal lehenga are timeless for a reason
- The choker sits at the collarbone; the haar fills the neckline below it
- This is the set worth a video call - see it live before the day
Our picks: Marwari Ruby-Red Kundan Polki Choker & Haar Set (₹4,700) or the Royal Pink-White Kundan Polki Choker & Haar Set (₹7,150). Shop the edit: Wedding Jewellery

Reception — drama at a distance
The brief: evening lights, long lenses, a room full of people seeing you from across the floor. Choose high-contrast shine and structured silhouettes — this is where polki’s uncut fire earns its name.
- Emerald-white and pearl-white catch evening light best
- A statement necklace over a gown or reception saree carries the room
- You can go bolder here than at the pheras
Our pick: Dramatic Ruby-Emerald Kundan Polki Statement Necklace (₹7,400) or the Divine Pearl-White Kundan Polki Choker & Haar Set (₹6,500).
